Unique problems require unique solutions and the bariatric care bed for Size Wise was no exception.   In addition to standard FDA compliant regulations a bariatric care bed requires special attention to structural components.  These larger and bulkier components can severely downgrade the overall form and functionality of the product if not addressed creatively.

The end boards located at the head and foot were one such area requiring additional structural rigidity.  Big bulky steel crossbars were an option however such a structural component would greatly detract from the overall aesthetic goals for a hospital/care center environment.  I.e. easy to clean, no pinch points, no sharp edges and a softer aesthetic.

The solution to this challenge was to use dual sheet pressure forming to encapsulate a structural steel weldment.  This solution took close collaborative cooperation with the manufacturer to achieve the successful solution highlighted.
